I saw this idea floating around and decided to give it my best shot. Here’s what I did. I made my basic Dutch oven sour dough recipe

Instead of just popping it on parchment and into the Dutch oven like normal I did a few extra steps.
These are the extra supplies I needed : cooking twine, scissors , and cinnamon sticks if you don’t have the bread lame you can always just use a razor blade.

I cut 4 long strings and crossed them on the parchment paper Like this

Then I set my sourdough ball on top and tied the strings all around

Then I trimmed the strings

next, I dusted the ball with flour and cut some designs in each wedge of the pumpkin

while I was doing this I did my usual for Dutch oven bread and preheated the oven with the Dutch oven in it at 400 degrees for 20 mins. When I was done designing it, I popped the dough into the Dutch oven and baked it for 30 mins at 400. I removed the lid and baked it for another 5 mins to brown the top a bit. This was the result.

I let it cool a little and then removed the strings. Then I poked a piece of cinnamon into the loaf to make a little stem like all the picture la I’d seen. It was so cute ! The cinnamon stick did make the center taste like cinnamon but we didn’t mind.

this is a super easy way to make regular old sour dough look cute for the fall and I love it. I’m glad we gave it a shot. If you get a chance to test it out like this post and let me know
How it went. Happy fall y’all!
